About Us
I, Lynn Matthews, had a variety of pets growing up in Canoga Park,
California. I had dogs, birds, hamsters, rats & guinea pigs. My older brother
had a room and garage full of reptiles, including lizards (including big
monitor lizards) snakes and amphibians, and also had a backyard with 3 desert tortoises. I regularly did pet sitting for neighbor’s cats, and my friend’s dog, cat and even ducks.
After getting married, still in California in 1988, and having 2 children, and a dog and cat, and after getting burned out of working as a desktop publisher, in 2003, I decided to answer an ad for a Veterinary Technician
Assistant at a local, privately funded, no-kill, Humane Society while my whole
family lived in Connecticut for about 4 years. It was a lot of hard work, a lot
of cleaning kennels and cages, feeding the animals, giving medications, and taking the dogs for walks and anything else needed. I also fostered cats at my house, had mother cats safely have their kittens in my home before getting adopted. I loved it. Then in 2005 the family moved back home to California and settled in an apartment in Foothill Ranch. I then got a job as a Kennel Attendant at a Lake Forest veterinary hospital, later promoted to veterinary assistant. I quickly learned how awful most of the time it is for the dogs and cats who were being boarded at veterinary hospitals when their owners went away on their vacations. I knew there had to be something better for animals.

Our pet-sitting services are all-inclusive. They are available for your family's furry or scaly members, including but not limited to dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles.
That’s when I found Pet Sitting and Dog Walking. In October of 2008, I had my first Dog Walking client, a person in her apartment complex. My company was called “Pet Sitting By Lynn.” I put up flyers in the complex, got more clients, made up a simple website, purchased Pet Sitting Insurance and Bonding to “give that extra peace of mind to her clients” that I was a professional. I vowed to give the client’s pets “More Time and More Attention” than most other Pet Sitting and Dog Walking companies who usually give their standard 30-minute visit or walk, whereas I gave a standard 1-hour visit or walk.
After a year, my son, Jared Matthews, who was only 19 at the time and going to Saddleback College for computer programming, started helping out with some of the Dog Walking clients. He’d always helped out a lot with the family pets, and with the cats that I was bringing home from the Humane Society in Connecticut. He really enjoyed the long walks. He was vitally important and even ran the business when there were a few emergencies and Lynn couldn’t be there.
In 2013 the business officially became “Truly TLC Pet Sitting” with Jared and I being co-owners.
Now, Truly TLC Pet Sitting, is based in Rancho Santa Margarita.
The company has grown substantially over the years.
